Defrost System (C49 & C50)

Forced air style Electric grid style

General Description:
The Defrost system was optional as RPO C50 (1970 - 78) and as RPO C49 from 1979 to 1981. It ranged in price from $26.35 to $107.

From 1970 to 1978 it was called a "forced air system". It used a blower motor to force air against the rear window to clear it of fog. A toggle switch mounted on the instrument cluster panel would activate the blower motor mounted under the package tray.

Beginning in 1979, this system was redesigned to a heated electric grid style system. Due to (or in spite of) the redesigned dash, the switch was now mounted off to the side of the instrument cluster.
