Vin number scavenger hunt!!
I was thinking about something interesting. I saw that there is a 70 thru 73 registry, but mybe it would be interesting and helpful to start a short list on a sticky tread here, with last 6 digits, trim tag date and bodynumber of as many Camaros from 70 thru 81 as possible. Once we get about 1 car for each month of the years 70 thru 81 we can close it,and I will orginize the numbers and submit them as a list. It would be cool to keep a simple list so that people who are looking to weed out VIN and trim tag swapped cars can have a little referance. The cars wouldnt need to be anything special, and you could even comb Ebay or other internet sites and take info from cars that look credible. When done a list of 144 cars containing only the very short amount of info needed shouldnt take up very much space at all,and could probably be condensd into 1 or 2 poists on the tread. Then it could be sticked so we could be the go to guys for yet another piece of 2nd gen info.
So what do you all say?? |
sounds like a pretty good idea to me.. I'll play

I'm not so sure that is a good idea posting everything you need to create another car. Just the little bit of info posted so far is everything someone needs to build a car including new VIN and trim tags.
Just looking at this from another view. Rick H. |

The value of most cars is relatively low these days. Only a numbers matching car is really valuable to go through all the hoopla to duplicate the VIN/body tags. And if you buy one, you should do your homework. I could build a numbers matching 1970 Z28 clone and license it in Florida. No one would ever figure out it wasn't an original. It's not easy, but it can be done. Having VIN info doesn't help. Having body info doesn't help. There is info available that will allow you to clone a more expensive version of the 1970, for example. But if you go to the trouble to exactly duplicate the numbers on a clone, it should be worth more than a non-numbers matching car. This isn't rocket science...cause I know rocket science! :D |
