Trim tag missing the Z?
My 70 was built at Norwood and has the 28.19 for the option but I can't make out a Z in front of it. The tag is painted over but in the right light I can make out the 28.19. Did they put a Z in front of the 28.19 on all the Z28 camaros?

The Z was not used in 1970. You got the 28.10 or 28.19. The Z28.10 and Z28.19 is a 1971 thing.
If your car had the Z, I'd be very suspicious of it.

I'm not joking. Norwood used 28.xx in 1970 and Z28.xx in 1971. There might be some 70 Z28s with the Z28.xx format, but unless they are a late built car, I am suspicious of them being real Z28s. Many people trying to clone a Z28 might not know of this small change at Norwood.

You are not joking ok. I think this thread would be better served over in the original discussion area where the group can pinpoint the switch to Z28 on the tag at Norwood to pretty much the week it happened during the 1970 build out.

Norwood did the switch in 70, and LA cars were blank. Com'on guys, you know that.

Incorrect, sorry. My May 05E Norwood 70 Z28 has the letter Z on the tag. I have the Canadian Documentation for it and the POP
and am the 2nd owner.

Gary S is correct. There is only the 28.xx depending on your paint stripes. Check the motor number on the front pad. It should be a CTB (maybe slightly different). Look carefully at the side of the oil filter on the block. There should be a partial VIN. The transmission and rear end also have markings that will help you determine the nature of your car. Do you have any documentation that came with it?

I was sure mine was correct but I noticed some 1970 Z28's on Ebay that had a Z in the option. Made me wonder if Norwood changed it at some point or if I had a mistake on my tag. I also need to know if there would be a build sheet in the back seat and does it pop off or lift off? Thanks for the help!

LA did have a Z in it. At least I think it did. Most Norwood cars did not have the build sheet in it. Did you get any documentation with it? Can you see the areas I mentioned earlier for numbers?

LA built cars do not get the option coding at all on the trim tag.

Righto, at least for 1970. I needed more coffee this morning.
My 02C Norwood car only has 28.19 on it.

I don't think LA built cars ever receive that.
