Progress!!!

The car is cut and polished. It was a beautiful day here (82 degrees) so pulled it out of the garage so I could see it in the sun.

There are a couple of spots that still need a little attention, but overall I think it looks great.

Sending all of my window trim out to be powder coated black on Monday.
My car also has the bright trim around the doors and hood, what do you guys think of having that all done in black also along with the drip rails?
Never personally seen it done on a second gen but I am sure it has.
I am thinking it would look pretty good.

I am heading to the powder coater today after work.

What is the best finish to have these trim pieces done in? Thinking semi-gloss black, but not sure if that will be too much gloss. What do you think?

I agree, semi gloss.....if you went gloss it might look as though you just painted them. Just my opinion brother. By the way, the car is looking great!!!

I did mine gloss black on a gloss black car.. Loved it. I'm painting the car red now and will be keeping the window trim gloss black. I'm not going to reinstall the drips. I also have shaved the door handles, so no locks or handles to deal with, Will you leave those brite? The only brite on my car will be lug nuts and center caps.

Thanks for the comments on the car!

Well I didn't get to take them down to the powder coater today after all, my kids keep me busy with their sports, found out on my way home from work that today was my oldest boys first tennis match.

Did you have any problems with them showing scratches on the gloss black?
That is the only thing that worries me about making them glossy.

I am still debating whether or not I am going to do the handles, locks and trim around the doors and hood. Been trying to find some pictures to get an idea of how it would look.

Wow, it has been about three months since I last updated this, mainly because I have not had any time to work on it because of baseball, track, tennis, and swimming (the kids, not me).

I finally have some time to get back into the garage. Just finished all of the steering and front suspension stuff, and the engine bay wiring will be done as soon as I get a plug for my BMW temp switch.

Next on the list is to install my mirrors, fender vent louvers, then install my inner fenders and finish installing my AC. Then it is on tho the interior!

I will post up some pics as soon as I take them. I don't take nearly enough, partly because when I am in the garage I want to get work on the car done instead of playing with my camera.

Wow, sounds like you've been really busy, both with the family and the car. Keep pluggin away when you get time!

OK been a long time since I have posted. Have been working on it here and there. Exterior is 99% done need to install the mirrors, sandblast and paint / powdercoat wheels, and install headlight bezels.

I am installing front seats from a 2002 Camaro, just sent them out to the upholsterer along with the rear seats. should have them back sometime next week.

Also wanted to share this picture:

I used my old headliner as a pattern to recreate it in my cad software, then cut it out on our plotter at work usin a piece of 3/16" foamcore board which is very similar if not the same material used originally.
