Thanks, it was either this, fabbing up a whole deal on a stock hood...
Or, just a flat hood. I really don't want anything too bulbous up there.
The seats are cheap knockoff buckets. Very similar to the Kragen kinda seats in black cloth. Very difficult to mount them, but keep them low.. and without drilling obnoxious holes into the subframe. I've had Mustang seats in there for years now.. and I've been very tempted to just keep those and recover them.

Actually.. not exactly. I'll have to add a tiny bit of metal to fill in around the back of the Z-scoop. I'm not using the middle mounts to hold the scoop to the hood either, as the hood was already cut out there. I'll also likely smooth out a little bit of the fiberglass ridges above the air cleaner.. .but at this point, I have plenty of room I think.

I took care of the holes and gaps this weekend.

I also filled in the front and rear marker light holes.

Hey Man! You are way farther along than I am and I've got mine sitting for over 25 years! We do have teenagers and I got to get Momma's ride done before I can even think about working on mine!

Looking good and love the filled in marker lights!

I do love that blue... it was the planned color for my car since I was 16.

But... then I saw the copper-orange color on the new Dodges... and I'll be sanding off the blue.
Kind of a pain though.. cause I matched the gauge cluster and a few other items to that blue...
I updated this thread, then looked at the last update... 2 months ago... I suck.

Ok... got a little more done today too.

My lower drivers side windshield A-frame had some bubbling rust issues.
My fix 13 years ago was cleaning it out, rustproofing the spot, then filling it with fiberglass, etc.
Didn't work. Well, not when the car sat outside for 6+ years without paint on it..
So, I cut that out and welded a patch in. This time I'm taking every precaution I can... weldable zinc-primer underside, Rust Mort, etc.

Welded and ground flat.

From there, I moved back to the B-pillar. 13 years ago, I had substantial cracks, etc. Found out after buzzing everything down that the quarter had been replaced sometime in the 70s, but it was a botched job, and wasn't even welded. It was brazed on.
My idea then was to fishplate a thick piece of 16 gauge steel.

My idea didn't work too well.
Left me with bubbling rust yet again, and more cracks as seen:

Here you can see the plate I welded in.

...And here's WHY the rust bubbled up the primer a bit.. Somehow water must be getting behind the plate... as it was VERY rusty once cut out.

I was surprised just how much filler was there. I guess I forgot how thick it was over the years.
I'm not happy about that.

Happiness aside... I'm debating re-replacing the whole quarter.
I replaced the lower 'skin' 13 years back, because the full size quarter wasn't in production.

If money wasn't so tight, the new quarter would be in transit... but it's hard to burn $400 right now.
The roof-to-quarter seam is one problem area.
What you can't see is that there's a reason that filler is so thick. It appears the quarter's top is a tad too far in. Something's not right there.
The rear area surrounding the taillight panel is another.
Time and filler can fix anything... but I'm not sure all that work to repair the shoddy repair is worthwhile.

Gotta make a decision here... to spend... or not to spend...

I like the idea of filling in the side markers. I was wondering about the legal issue though. Do you have to have them?
