My Frankenstien
Hello to all, I have been watching this site and am now just getting ready to start working on my car. I traded a couple of vehicles to end up with this one and I think I gonna keep it. I was never a really big fan of the F-Body's but the more read about them the more they seem like the car to have, especially the 2nd gens. What I have is a 75 that that someone put time into making it a 70-73 clone of some sorts, they put in a 350 (I think its what he told me and i dont care enough to look it up since I'm not gonna keep it) and it has a muncie in it im thinking M-21 I know its not a 22. I will keep that for now since my whole project is kinda getting rushed since I got a new job and I'm not living in my house any more. So instead of doing what I originally planed on doing which was just keep driving it and beating on it till I have everything i want for it and then do it all at once I'm just going to do the basics. New electrical, and interior, get the body blasted and painted, and do some suspension upgrades. I will be doing it all myself other than the media blasting and stitch work. Im going to paint it dark gray metallic with satin black strips. I have never painted a metallic before and have never done a whole car like this before. My biggest question is in what order should I paint the car? Do I do the jams mount everything then paint it all or do i paint everything then put it together? I know the stripes go on once its all put together but, thats about it for the steps that I am sure on. Any help and or ideas would be much appreciated. I will try to get some pics up as I go.
Thank you

Some prefer painting it all at once and then assembling, but that would give me nightmares about scratching fresh paint. I did the jambs on mine first and then painted the rest of the car assembled.
BTW...I painted mine gray metallic and have been toying with the idea of flat black stripes ever since.

Thanks for the in site guys, Woody my biggest problem is deciding what stripe to go with, the traditional stripe, the hockey stick down the side, or im been toying with the idea of just one stripe down them middle with i guess i would call it a stab but just one and do the opposite on the trunk, I'm leaning towards that since I haven't seen that done (I dont think, or at least much), But I am going to good with a cowl hood too just not sure which one yet but most likely the 2 or 4 incher it looks good but everyone puts it on too.

Here is the link I hope I did it rite, so far all I have done is just repaint the wheels and put new rubber on them, but I have collected a few parts, like an A/C unit out of an 80, another rear end with a posi in it,i got a whole additional set of seats that are being redone in black leather and gray suede by my friend, so i need a few more things but its coming along, I just have to get serious because Im putting my house on the market soon.

Just found my video of when I first got it home and pulled it off the trailer, I had to put the rims from my Chevelle on it so I could do a lil bit of a burnout there, the ones that I got with it were a bit bald.

That's an interesting idea with the "stab." I'm still thinking about a single stripe down the hood & trunk that is otherwise the same dimensions of the Z28 stripes. Scotty did the same thing with his.

looks good, you said you were going to make it 70-73 clone and all the hard work is done already. I was expecting to see a 75 with a 73 front cap lol.
I'm jealous for sure

I'm still making speaker kick panels, just closing on a new home due to close 5/01/2013. I have a few sets ready to ship so feel free to ask me about that.

Thanks, yeah i picked it up this way, I live in Illinois and we have this damn rust belt here so when I saw how fairly rust free the car was i jumped on it. It doesnt hurt that it was running under its own power but those are about the only 2 things going for it. The interior is trashed, I wont be using a single piece of it, it dose have a muncie which is nice but i havent inspected it any more than just looking at the side cover. but basically once I get my new seats back from my friend I'm gonna order up the bare minimum I'll need, take it all apart get it to the media blaster and put her back together and then just update things as needed.

I heard it was a bad idea to panel paint metalic colors. Ask wookie for his opinion as he is the paint guru.
Welcome...post some pics
