Tim, Is your Camaro going to be similar to Paul Alderman's (Silver/WA state).
I heard from a N.C. contact that his build was over $100K ?????
You evidently are a businessman with lotsa discretionary $$$$.
Are those front wheel houses modified OEM steel, as I read where DSE
said they were very labor intensive to build. Wondering if DSE had started using a composite alternative housing.
Do you kow if DSE sells their roll cage as a kit for others to install, or is each Camaro a one off install.

Chuck my car won't be cosmetically as nice as Pauls car it will be more raw and race oriented.

I'm sure it was, I'm going to be in the same range due to the fact we are using high end custom parts vs spending on cosmetic parts.

I've saved for a few years to build this car without having to part with some of my other ones but the jury's still out if I'll have to liquidate any of them to finish it.

The wheel houses are carbon fiber ones made by Anvil Auto that I purchased and brought to DSE to use and yes the steel ones are highly modified and spendy to have fabricated.

I think they sell a 4 point mild steel one, I'm having them build a chrome moly 8 point for my car.

I went to DSE on wednesday to check out the progress. The cage is mocked up and tacked in place, they are going to offer at least the 6 point version of this cage in mild steel as a product. They test bent all of the cage pieces in mild steel before bending my moly cage and had both halos sitting next to the car and I pick each one up and was amazed at the weight savings of the chrome moly. The C&R radiator is a trick piece it has a built in engine oil cooler and power steering cooler. Here's the link to the project page with the latest update pics. http://www.detroitspeed.com/projects...amaro-pg1.html

Congrats on your build and the success to be able to spend the money to do this kind of build..
I am working hard on my Success and finances, and it just motivates me to see where I want to be..
Life is great, and my 25K build is heaven to me, but what gets me excited to make more of my fortune, is to see your build.. Well done...

Is everything time and material at DSE ?
How fast do those ex NASCAR fabricators do their thing ??
Curious to know how much a skilled experienced weldor/fitter can accomplish, versus most of the wanna be's around the country? (Notice I didnt say everybody else, as there surely are other good shops.....it's just that the NASCAR skill level is certainly evident at DSE)
I fabricated my own cage in my C/SM car "back in the day" and it took me forever............

Chuck, most of the fabricators at DSE are not ex nascar but guys they've either homegrown or have experience building custom cars, Paul their lead fabricator is an ex prototype fabricator from Chrysler. All of their work is time and material. They're pretty quick, when I was there wednesday the guy bending the cage bent two halos in about an hour just to give you an idea.
BTW I love the old race car, I grew up from drag racing roots my dad was a pro racer in the 60's, he ran top gas dragsters and even won top gas in the nation with Danny Ongais driving his car.
