Finished installing the weatherstripping and inner/outer window seals on the passenger side. The glass seals up pretty well, but not 100%. The glass is adjusted up as far as it will go without hitting the roof and as far forward as it can go without hitting the A pillar, but it still doesn't contact the seal tight enough at the radius where the A pillar transitions into the roof. Aggravating, but it's as good as I can get it, so time to move onto the driver's side.

Nice to see someone from my same town on here. I too just started a late 2nd Gen project and am trying to work on it as I can. Looks like you got a pretty solid car to start with. I look forward to seeing your progress. By the way, what part of town do you live in. Maybe I can lend a hand somtime.

We are actually out near Perdido Key off of Gulf Beach Highway. What part of town are you in?

Just wondering how hard were the 3rd gen seats to put in? What all did you have to modify to make them work?

Not hard at all, they actually fit pretty well. I ended up welding some 3/32" x 1" flat bar tabs on three of the four mounting points for each seat to get them to match up to the factory holes in the floor. It was much easier going that route than to try and modify the original seat tracks to fit the new seats.

When you installed new 3rd gen seats, did you measure before and after to see if the 3rd gen seats place you higher in the car? Height is a major concern for me as I am a big dude approx 6'5" tall. From your pics them seem to sit higher off of the floor than factory seats.

They probably do. Maybe 1 to 2 inches higher, I'm guestimating. I'm only 5' 7" and my son is even shorter, so I don't notice it being an issue. Tomorrow I will sit in the car and measure how much headroom there is and let you know.

Moved on over to the drivers side door and found out why it had been rattling this whole time. The inner panel was cracked and the section that holds the top of the window channel bracket was broken and separated from the inner panel, which allowed the whole assembly to flex. The bracket at the bottom was also broken and let the glass bang back and forth when the door was being shut. I don't know how stuff like this gets broken.....if this car could talk, I'm sure it would have some stories to tell.

Perfect opportunity to teach junior a little welding. I got him started out on some practice plate and then moved him on over to the door where he tacked the patch in place and worked on the crack on the lower part of the door.

I finished up the welding and here is the repaired part with the slots restored for adjusting the bracket.

We are continuing with what the PO started. The car was originally bronze metallic and camel tan interior with a V-6. Most of the interior had already been changed to carmine red, but some of the pieces need to be replaced and it all needs to be repainted/redyed. So far we have worked on the mechanical end of things, brakes, engine tune-up, carb rebuild, etc, to make sure that it gets my son back and forth to school. We plan on finishing the interior with new carpet and headliner, trying to do something with the exterior paint like wetsanding, buff/polish to get rid of the overspray and get some shine in it if possible and just cleaning things up. We're also planning to put the AC back together by the time summer rolls around.

What kind of interior pieces are you looking for. My buddy has a parts car that has red interior. I got the dash pad and a few exterior parts, but I believe everything else is there.
