    Hi everyone!
I am restoring a my 1970 camaro base model.
I parted out an original 1970 Z28 years ago that was rotten beyond repair.
Had a few questions on the 1970 rear sway bar. What size is it? and where can I get the bushings for the ends, as well as the drop link bushings?
Also, I compared the Z28 rear sway bar with my 1970 Formula 400 rear bar, and the Z28 bar is allot larger diameter than the Formula bar.
    thanks

1970 base model Camaro ordered with F41 would have had a 9/16" rear swaybar. 1970 Z28 Camaro had a 11/16" bar.
I don't know what size the Formula Firebird had, but it probably varied depending on year. Trans Ams used 5/8", 3/4", or 7/8" depending on year and options.
Bushing sets are available from places that specialize in suspension parts. Some of them have been listed here in previous discussions on this subject. A search might turn up a source for you.

I just received a set from P-S-T.com. $42 delivered. Haven't installed yet but appears to correct fit. 11/16, 2 bolt retainer.

    New Info

As an original owner, you'd be more likely than anyone to get this one right. Just looked at our info page, and it shows 9/16" across the board. I'm guessing that we need to update our info?:

And to think I've been laboring all these years with the understanding that all the F-41 cars wore the 9/16" rear bar! Doh!

I remeasured the sway bar again, and with a digital micrometer and the bar measured .76. Could the factory 1970 z28 bar be 3/4"? or is it 7/16"?
Is it safer to order bushings for a 3/4 or 7/16?
The difference is a 1/16th of an inch.

THe 70 Z28 rear bar should be 11/16, which is just 1/16 under the 3/4 bar used on Trans Ams.
(3/4 is 12/16, so 7/16 would be much smaller)
If yours measures .76, I'd order the 3/4 bushings. (11/16 would be .6875)It is always possible that this bar got switched sometime in the life of the car. Measuring is more trustworthy than going by what "should" be on a car after 40 years.
