    Guys,

Has anyone ever owned a 1990-1993 Chevy SS 454 pickup? I know 1993 was the last year and by 1993 Chevy added an overdrive transmission, 4.10 gears and throttle body fuel injection to improve fuel economy.

I talked to the owner and it sounds like a nice truck. He uses the truck to pull his drag race car to and from the track. He said this truck is a 1993.

Any thoughts about these trucks and the truck's price.

If that truck is as clean as it appears...it should be stongly considered...IMO

Those are classics and they aren't made anymore.

    Kik,

I like the truck! The owner is going to make some photos of the interior, bed and engine and email them to me.

I am concerned about the high miles and the low fuel economy. It has 147,000.

    Additional Photos

Hopefully the additional photos will help me determine if the truck is really as nice as it appears in the photos posted in the ad.

Miles really don't mean much...just look at actual condition...the engine can be rebuilt cheap compared to rust and other important items...

i'm not paying $8500 for a 158k mile 15 year old GM truck just because it's a half ton with a big block.

you can buy a short bed late model with less miles and a 5.3 and get 2x the mileage and be faster.

there was a stock one at the test and tune last night. it was running low 17's or high 16s, depending on how the driver took off. Still a pretty cool truck. jim

Then a big block pickup isn't something you should be considering, imo. The 454's eat gas regardless of having overdrive or not, especially with a 4.10 gear. The 454 SS had a TBI 454 from the first year through the last of its production run. They made 230 HP in the first year or so, eventually went to 250 HP. They are neat trucks but generally over-priced used and under-powered (by big block standards).
