THis is really dumb, but turns out my block number misread or misprinted, it is a 307, original bore size. worth any work in it or keep crank and build the 327 i thought i had with a 4.00 block? anyone want to experiment with it??? i will build and you blow it up.

I knew some stand up routines would come my way... plan on getting a bare block(right numbers), or there was a couple nice rebuilt ones on here to get. but if i put the 307 back together fresh do you think it would be worth my time and money trying to sell it? or find an old nova 2 or chevelle, camino for the wife? its clean, ran strong when it was in the camaro, but extremely rich. they put a brand new 600 eddy on with all factor insides, thinking it was a 327. i don't feel that pissed, me, my dad, the owner, and 2 engine guys misread it, when i measure my bore sunday, i dropped the micrometer!!!.

I was just busting balls a little.

Seriouslly though, I saw you mentioned it for a power plant for your wifes ride? That may not be a bad idea. Then it wouldn't go to waste, and it would give her something to motor around in.

what about rolling the dice, clean it .30 over, put in a .450 lift cam, 270ish duration like the old 327/350 cams, and some fuelie heads, unported. run a rpm manifold, eddy carb, 2000 stall? i won't have the cubic inch to get extra oomph, but the cam will maximize what i have, decent upper low/mid range to 5500 band, where the normal heads would peter, the fuelies get the last breath out of the engine. the manifold would help with some torque, along with heads and a decent stall it might be ok. I know every book says their "ok" and every car guy says trash. i am of the opinion i am disappointed and want whatever goes in to last a while. but if it can hang in there it would be cool to build something everyone hates.

Yes, build it like a smaller, mild 327 type motor AND it will run fine!!

I've got one of the from a 72 chevelle in my blazer, 60 over performer cam, intake, 500 carter, HEI,had 194 valve put in the heads. It pulls the blazer alright for a daily driver, it's a 2wd, so a nice cruiser. Jim

307 is literally a stroked 283 (283 bore 327 stroke) they can be made to push 300HP with the right combo...
