i have a 87 454 out of a suburban and have looked through three different manuals, on the block and CANNOT find the oil pressure sending unit. i am looking for both the water temp and oil pressure units. the only one i can find is on the drivers side head and i am thinking it is the water temp.

where is the oil pressure sending unit??????

I had planned on using the stock oil location for mine(454,oil filter boss)then after installing it,had to remove it because of bellcrank interference.Im now going to be relocating it to the small block location, behind the distributor, above tranny. So,if youre running a stick, make sure thats in there as well for fit up.

I don't think he will have the upper block location for the oil sender, that location is only on the new blocks was not there on my 454, he may have to use the lower location near filter

good news, there is a hole in the block in this exact location. the hole is plugged by a 4 point (square) head as opposed to a hex head. what is the best tool to remove this with? i dont want to strip that puppy!

I went to the hardware store and got some square stock that fit the hole, put it in a socket. Worked like a charm. Might be able to use 3/8" ratchet extension as well.
