My Camaro has been setting for awhile and the gas went bad so I have a lot of rust in the tank and it killed the fuel pump. Any suggestions on how to clean out the tank? Or is it easier to buy a new one.

    Thanks

The rust probably didn't kill the fuel pump.
Probably just plugged up the sock filter in the tank so the pump won't move any fuel through the line.

Either way... The tank will have to come down and you can assess it further before pulling the trigger on a new tank.

However... If it's the original tank and it's full of rust, it's probably a good idea to replace it.

If I tell her it will blow up she definitely not want me to replace it.

You can fill it with apple cider vinegar for a few days and then if you have a way to induce vibratory motion it can eat a lot of the rust out. Then install a few fuel filters. Best bet is to get a new one though.

I would just push the yellow button and get the Banana :) - Get a new tank. in my option futzing with a rusty tank is not worth the effort
