I have a stock '74 350 that's nothing special. Stock 882 heads, 8.5:1, dual plane, Holley 650. Hooker Headers, 4 spd, 4.11 rear. I want to change the cam since I've got the damper and timing cover off to swap in a new timing set and re-gasket some of the bottom end. I don't really want to throw too much money at it now since I plan on swapping a set of vortecs (or just building up the big block) in a few months. Since I'm placing a Summit order in a few days I though I'd add a mild cam to the list. Summit's stuff is on sale. I have used some of their stuff in the past that has been decent, but never for any internal engine parts. What do you think? If it sounds like a good idea, how much lift would I be safe with on the stock valve springs? Around .450 or so?
