In the process of replacing my camshaft in my 79Z-Would like to know what are your thoughts on the Lunati VooDoo camshaft kit-http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=LUN-60102LK&autoview=sku
The motor is a 350 ,4 bolt with flat top pistons,64cc aluminum heads, headers, performer intake and 600 holley, turbo 350 with 3:42 posi. The car will be driven on street with power brakes and AC sometimes.Anybody run this cam and how does it sound and perform.

    Cam specs are:
Hydraulic. Mid-level performance street cam with excellent drivability. Exceptional replacement for muscle car type cams with automatic transmissions. Works well with stock type exhaust manifolds and dual plane intake with mild 4 bbl carb. This is an Awesome 4X4 and performance marine cam.

I would go one step bigger in the Voodoo line. The Voodoo cam I have specs out like this:

    Ad. duration 268/276
    .050 duration 228/232
    Lift .489"/.504"
    LSA 110
    Power range 1800-6200

You will love everything about this cam. Good idle vaccuum (12hg at 750rpm), plenty of power throughout the entire power band, and a nice lopey idle. I have never been so satisfied with a cam as I have been with this one. It's just about everything you want is a great street cam and then some. And you should have no problem running a stock stall if need be.

What's spec's on the torque converter? Stepping up much on that cam will need a higher stall over stock to realize any performance gains.

Sounds like the perfect candidate for this cam

''HOT Street'' cam; likes 2800 converter, Hi-Rise type dual plane intake with 850cfm carb, headers,10:1 compression, and 3.73 gears. Likes up to 200HP nitrous.
    Advertised Duration : 276°/284°

    Gross Valve lift IN/EX .504''/.525''
    LSA and ICL 110/106
    RPM Range: 2200-6400

And here is what this cam sounds like in out 10.5:1 compression 355 with ported double hump heads, performer rpm and 750 vacuum secondary. also has a TH350 with 3000 stall hughes converter.

So if I went with this cam;How will a stock converter do or is it best to go with a stall converter according to cam specs. And how will the stall converter affect daily driving down the highway at cruising speed .

Hydraulic. The most awesome 268 cam ever produced! Out-powers all others! This High Performance street cam likes 2400 RPM stall, 700 cfm carb, dual plane intake and headers. Makes un-equaled power to 6200 RPM with proper valve springs. If you're looking for a Very Strong cam with great street manners then this cam is it.

That cam will be great in your engine. It will work with your stock converter but will work even better with a higher stall converter. I would use a 2500rpm stall converter with that cam. 2500 is perfectly fine on the street. We run a 3000 hughes on the street just fine and I have a 4800 8" ATI I am about to put in my car that ATI says will work just fine on the street.

    I sold this cam to a customer with a 327 with the l2166nf 30 pistons, 700r4, 4.10 gear

He has been 12.70's, he switched to AFR195 heads and went 12.50 but spun

Now he has taken the exhaust off and added a set of Dynomax Bullet mufflers

I really didnt want to sell him this cam becuase i thought he wouldnt go with enough converter, he now has 4,000rpm stall, with a 350 3500rpm stall should be just fine

Here is his youtube video with that cam & AFR195's

Imho, that 262 VooDoo is better in a 9 to 1 CR engine and their 268 VooDoo better in a 10 to 1 CR engine so go from there!

And you should be darn close to 10 to 1, imho...
