Why is incompatible air conditioning with z28 1970? What if I put air conditioning with this lt-1 engine?

The Lt1 solid lifter motors would rev very high and damage the compressors, Also idle issues with the camshaft profiles made air conditioning not very compatible to put on that high performance motor. I would probably used a different hydraulic camshaft maybe if I did it to one of my cars.

    Ron is correct.
A/C wasn't very friendly to the engine at idle and the engine wasn't very nice to the compressor at WOT.

It's not a simple job to swap one of these cars to factory A/C. (firewall, dash, kick panels, ductwork, wiring etc.)

If you did want to undertake that task... a cam swap or a throttle activated cut-out switch for the A/C compressor power circuit would be a possible solution.
(Cut power to the A/C compressor circuit at IDLE and WOT.)

Maybe than aftermarket A/C unit would work better?
I don't know what RPM they are designed to handle and you would still have the compressor drag at idle.

I put the Vintage Air conditioning in my 71 Z28 granted it don’t have as much HP as the 70Z28 had but I kept my flat tappet cam and I’ve not had any issues with anything in my systems I live in Texas where we pretty much need the air conditioning. The JR is not cheap but in my opinion well worth it

The newer compressors can take more RPM than the old Harrison compressors.

Interesting fact, the 1972 LT-1 Corvette could be had with AC, but they lowered the redline from 6500 to 5600 and changed the standard rear gear to 3.36's.

I wouldn't see any problem putting a modern air conditioning system on a driver 70 z28. You do indeed need it in the south to keep cool. The modern sanden compressor used in the air upgrade kits will work fine on a old lt1 engine. Now the radiator definitely will need upgraded also. Also a idle solenoid to raise the idle to prevent stalling and overheating while sitting in traffic.

COPO is right. At the speeds the 70 Z28 is capable of, the windows do a great job of air conditioning the car.

Just like Motorola, you cannot outrun the Florida heat! ;)
