I am Scott from Georgia and just picked up at 70 Z-28 from the original owner's son. It is a local car been in Georgia all it's life. The original owner passed a year ago and his son has no interest in restoring it. He said his Dad bought it new locally and got in a tight a sold it to a co-worker but bought it back in 1977. I have the title from 77! I have started tearing it down. Original engine is gone but I am still excited as can be! I will be getting lots of input from you guys! I also have a 69 Camaro Convertible getting restored.

    Welcome to the madness :bowtie:

Don't forget to save all those 70 only parts cause they are sometimes hard to find.

Congrats and glad you plan to save her. Clearly kept outside under a tarp. Trapped moisture and caused all that surface rust.

How much work will you be doing yourself? Can you do the rust repair?

I started taking the interior out and taking bumpers and other parts off this week. Going to get it media blasted soon and start the metal work. I have a friend who owns a shop doing the metal work.

Hopefully it’s just surface rust. Do you anticipate quarter or roof skin replacement?

No will need couple of quarter patches and couple small dime size holes in trunk.
I’m pretty happy with the lack of rust. Other than two front pans and a few partial patches it’s good to go.

Welcome to the site. Glad to hear that it doesn't need major work. Is that a picture of the car when it was new by your name?
