Can anyone tell me what heads and camshaft came on a stock 1979 Z28 Camaro engine?
im not sure about the cam but heads on mine were 882's
Head Cating #: 333882 1.94/1.5" Valves, 75.47cc
Cam specs: Hydraulic, Lift: .390/.410 (intake/exhaust), Duration: 310/320
Interesting how little the lift is; no wonder it was rated at only 175(?) HP.
But please correct the duration, I would like to know what it was at .050.
Duration @ .050 195/202
Yeah you're right with the 175 HP (I am surprised with so little lift also), and yes can you please tell the duration at .050?
Sorry didn't see you posted already.
The cam was the 3896929, 112 lobe sep, ground 4 degrees advanced. The other specs given match the old TRW specs. '79 should be the guaranteed-to-crack # '624 heads, which typically get replaced by the '882s. Should be 1.94"/1.50" valves.
I would like to install a better cam just don't know which one but need a little help to narrow it down
Best deal on that engine would be a set of Vortec heads with some 1.6 ratio rockers to improve lift on the peanut cam, set of headers. Feel the difference in the seat of your pants.
