If your running a vacuum advance can then too much advance at idle will make her smoke like hell and rev up and down.

If the carb has been dumping raw fuel for a while, it may have washed the walls and rings down to the point where the rings have scored the cylinder walls....so what started out as a float set too high or float stuck, has turned into worn rings or scored walls causing blue smoke to appear.

Are you running an Eddy carb or Holley?. Eddys are real bad for heat soak.

Initial post from OP says Quick Fuel, which is Holley type.

OP - What high volume Mallory fuel pump and regulator do you have? What psi the the regulator set for?

It takes lots and lots of fuel to screw up rings if it was dumping it.

I will try that the next time I get the chance, I was also thinking it may be the fuel filter

Does the Holly quick fuel have the same type of power valve as the old school ones? My buddy had Holly in his Camaro. I hated to get stuck behind him going down the road. The Fumes would Kill me. I finally Got him to fix it. His went bad after a few backfires so it does not take much to pop it. I could see fuel just dumping down through the secondaries squirters while at Idle and partial throttle.

Electric or mechanical pump? If electric, we can determine if a float is stuck or adjusted too high real quick like. I don't think 7psi is driving past the floats but you may try taking it down a pound. Also, if you're using one of the mini gauges, especially the fluid filled ones, they're highly inaccurate when they get hot. I don't trust them past initial startup.
