You can check the cylinder by removing the head and measuring the bore with a caliper. You'll need to know the stock bore. There's no way that I know of to check the cam other than by removing it.

I hate relying on people I don’t know.

I love this thread. I’m refreshing my 81z. I too plan to get more power out of my engine using the stock parts. Sounds like 300hp is doable then??

300 is definitely doable with the right cam and set up.

So I talked to my painter again today and he said the car will be painted next week! It was supposed to be painted last week, then he said it would be this week, now he said next week...WTF! Get the poo done already and don't tell me "life got in the way". Then he tells me that neither him or his partner do this full time, they both have day jobs. Seriously? I don't care, you're running a damn business so keep your word to your customers. I'll never use him again.

Annoying situation to say the least. The more people I meet the more I like my dog.

So now the word is that I'll have the car back next week. We'll see...

Hey remember me?! LOL. Guess what's finally out of the paint shop and at the custom shop getting a brand new undercoat? I'll be power washing the bottom and engine compartment getting it all ready for a new finish, then back to the garage to start assembly. I can't believe it took damn near 2 months to get a coat of paint. This car should have been finished by now. But it is what it is at this point. Everything is ready to go in so hopefully it shouldn't take too long.

Here's what it looks like today...
