Im looking for dyno numbers for people running an AFR headed 383 (perferably the 195cc)

Im just trying to get an idea what my combo might put out.

    My specs are:
    383
    10:1 compression
    1 3/4" headers
    AFR 195 heads
    .510/.520 lift roller cam
    RPM Air-Gap intake
    770 carb
    Mallory HEI
timing is 20 initial and 37 total all in by 2800rpm

I saw the dyno sheets on one 383 setup very similar to yours and it was at 520 hp. The compression on that was 10.3 and the lift was .525 on both sides I do believe it had 1.6 rockers on it. Same intake and a pro-systems 750 carb.

You serious? Doesn't sound right to me. If that's correct it sounds as if you need a cam change. With those big 74cc heads what is your compression ratio? I would expect no less than 480+ crank hp out of an AFR headed 383 and 10:1 to 11:1 compression with the proper cam.

    105 MPH 1/8 mile
    132 MPH 1/4 mile

    I would guess a honest 500 HP.

Unfortunately I didn't build the motor. I did see the dyno printout and I did see the build sheet the previous owner had from the engine builder.
I was told the CR was 10:1

If I do get a chance to put it on a chassis dyno I'll see if it's true :)

If I get around to mounting a set of ET Drag Radials, I plan to get to the track to see what it will run.
As it is now I won't waste my time going to the track...I have no traction at all with my current tires.

Small cam and carb. Those heads are nowhere near their potential

If CR and quench is correct adding a hyd roller .550 lift / 230-240 @ .050 with a 750HP and you would have 480hp/520tq

Yup that is exactly what I was thinking. Little more cam than that and he would be touching 500hp.

Good luck with it! If it ends up not running what you want it will be pretty easy to tap some more power out of it with a cam change and the proper carb. :bowtie:
