I get ya. I totally understand how important it is to have a kit to ensure it will all work together. I guess I have the opinion I have is because I bought mix/matched pieces and it all worked together. With Ebay adapter plates, Dynatech headers (when they were $300), and a APT crossmember.

Your answer is not quite right. Although 409ss will readily rust due to its low 11.5 percent chromium content, there are a number of dual stabilized ferritic stainless steels with substantially higher levels of chromium (17.5 to 19 percent) that do not readily rust, such as 439, 444, 446 and 18CRCB. You might actually be surprised to learn that 439ss has higher corrosion resistance than 304ss in cyclic high temperature applications. As far as magnetism is concerned, it has nothing to do with corrosion resistance. Admittedly, obtaining these more specialized ferritic grades is difficult and normally requires that it be purchased by the coil and be slit and rolled/welded into tubing by a tube mill facility.

and lets NOT forget.....Stainless steel will only

stain LESS. It will still rust regardless of what grade it is..... how long and how much varies but it's going to rust.

Gotta love their shipping department! The kit should be arriving at my office on Wednesday. Unfortunately I will be offshore but once I'm back, time to start working on getting the engine and transmission installed!

Anyone have installed pics of the kit showing the headers clearance to the ground? Also, does anyone know which direction and how my the bell housing mounting location moves with this kit?

This picture doesn't show ground clearance, but shows the relationship to the frame and transmission.

I can't find any pictures of the intake to firewall clearance, but IIRC, they are 0 mounts, which keeps the back of the engine where the original SBC was so you could use an existing transmission.
