    If they are upfront with the employee when hired then it's not "wrong" by the employer. It's up to the individual if he/she wants to take the job. I get pissy when the rules change after you've started your employment

    Half of anything lower than $14.50 per hour would be illegal. Federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour - so $6.00 per hour would be a problem.

    It is legal as long as the lower pay is still above minimum wage.

    Id say yes it's legal. A mechanic that does flag rate is only paid the min or whatever the agreement was upon hire, When there's nothing to work on.

    The argument on the other side is you get to write off mileage, wear and tear of the vehicle if I'm not mistaken.

    He's driving a Company Vehicle so he can't write off anything
