I figured since I was going through the trouble of installing an LS2, I would go ahead and swap out the steering column to add cruise control to a 70.5. It does not seem like there are many Camaro cruise control columns out there available for sale. I think others will fit, but does anyone have suggestions on alternatives?

You don't need to swap out the steering column to add cruise. Just pick up a complete cruise control out of any GM pickup, A, B, F body from say 1974 to 1987 and it will bolt in pretty well.

I am installing a 99 camaro column in mine, still in the works. I paid $70 shipped for the column from ebay.

Dana corporation makes very good cruise units.....but you will definately want to order the correct "triggering" pulse or magnet...depends on tranny...

Call Street and Performance and talk to Tony. I added cruise to my Dad's 62 Bel-Air Bubbletop w/ an LS-2 and drive by wire throttle body. We used a stalk off of a 85 or 86 ( I don't remember which year ) chevy pick-up with cruise and no intermittent wipers, a Trailblazer SS Gas pedal, and ran it through the computer and it works great. Tony should be able to give you specific part #'s. You don't need to change the column except for tilt this set-up works on any GM column.

Interesting, I was curious if this was possible, I have a 1999 Camaro one and a
1994 Firebird one at my disposal.

The late 4th gen, 99 and up, isnt as desireable as the dash bracket is welded to the column. The 3rd gen uses a bolt on dash bracket and you can swap the 2nd gen bracket to the 3rd gen. You can use the 4th gen column but you have to modify the brackets a little. Also the connectors for the tur signals and such are different between the 2nd and 3rd/4th gen
