Dumb painting question

    Ok i have the 79 z model and i'm gonna use model spray pauint i bought....do i paint all the parts first then put it together, or put together then paint?

    It kinda depends on what you're painting and the type of glue you're using.

    Liquid glue (in a bottle) will give you better adhesion, but doesn't do well with painted parts...tends to melt the paint. In that case, glue what you can first and then paint.

    Glue in a tube (what most people use) is messier, but you can generally glue painted parts together.

    paint first and use the tube glue. tip: don't waste your time with model paint. it sucks! go get some touch up paint at your local parts store. you'll get much better results and use less coats of paint.i just finished a '66 riviera and used paint i bought for my '94 taurus (dark metalic green).i put a couple coats of clear coat over top and it came out beautiful.

    i use car paint from a can, works much better than model paint.
