I'm going to call Craig again...I guess.

I also found another 0122730 ECU for 30.00 shipped so I ordered it and it should be here by next week. I need a spare anyway and I figured it would be a good test to see if there isn't any weird problems with the one I have...

I suppose I should try and find a UV eraser and see if I'm able to program the memcal???

I have a couple of spares myself. This is a good idea... But it sucks how these projects nickel and dime you to death... :whine:

I'd just get some extra chips. They're about ~$1.50 apiece and it's nice to have a few that way you can burn chips and run them while others are being erased (it takes about 10-15 minutes to erase a chip). I keep about four on hand at any one time.

    Yup, they're 27C256 EPROMs.

The P/N for mine is M27C256B-15F1. Digikey has them, but they're $6.44 each (plus shipping).

But if you have a local electronics store, see if they have this p/n. I get mine from Fry's Electronics.

For an eraser, you could try the one from Xtronics (or your local electronics store has them- again I got mine from Fry's).

Hey Mike, I was trying to think of what could be wrong and saw this...

The solder didn't stick it looks like. I'm just going to solder it and see if that fixes the problem...I did put a meter on it and it checks good though.?? I hope this is what it is.

John, are you sure you have Moates chip in the correct orientation on the adapter? I.e., which way is the u-groove on the end of the chip supposed to point?

    I am sure...;)

I have the notch in the adapter facing the same direction as the one in the memcal.
(it won't start with it backward I found that out the very firtst day, LOL)

    update:

Solder didn't fix the SES light.. (code 41) ..I'm sure that the hardware from Moates is good.
I guess I'll wait and see if the replacement ECU changes anything, it should be here on Friday.
