factory gauge swap and HEI

    how should the tach be wired up with HEI

    Are you swapping out an "idiot light" cluster for a factory gauge set? (U14 cluster)

    The dark brown wire in the #1 position of the plug goes directly to the "Tach" connection on the side of the HEI distributor.

    that is what I did for some reason the car will not start
    unplug it from the tach connection it starts right up
    took me hours to figure that out
    it is the brown wire in the number one slot
    note: instrument cluster is not installed yet

    your most likely grounding out the other wire,connector at distribitor,the one beside the tac plug,,maybe
