Never dealt much with frame rust. I have a buddy going to look at a 90's model Nissan hard body pick up truck with a little frame rust. Doesn't look to be all the way through, so wondering if this is something we can patch/re-enforce?...or is it best to just keep looking. The truck checks out great otherwise. See image below. Thanks!

that's rust through and only a small area - I guarantee there is a lot more

Could it be repaired, yes, but.....

If that's a boxed frame I'd run away fast. Sort of the tip of the iceberg deal. And check the cross members under there too. If a standard C section frame it can probably be fixed, and the rest of the truck does look nice in the picture.

    Might wind up with this?

Got to get it up on a lift at a real Mechanic shop. Full safety inspection. Like mentioned it is probably more involved in other places unseen.

I did a C notch on an ‘87 I had, the rear part of the frame wasn’t boxed, the cab area was.
I also had a ‘95 4x4 Kingcab that if memory serves me was the same way.

I would keep on looking .There could be more hidden rust. And that could end up very expensive

That looks like the kind of cancer that you can't kill. Those Nissans rusted out early up here in the norhteast. My son had one. He loved it but cancer killed it early. I would never buy a vehicle like that. People up here drive south to get non-rusted vehicles.
