Good idea! The quick connects were installed from the factory for one reason only and that was to speed up the assembly line.
How do ya thread the connector on after the hose is attached?

    Wrong thread....lol

Answer = you don't connect the other end of the fuel line that goes to
the regulator / filter until this end is twisted on all the way.

Good job Ace. Sell it when you're done.

what you could do is, connect some sort of pressure tester to the fitting.
Maybe there is a tool to do that.
If not, take injector or another electrical actuated device that has the correct counterpart for the fitting, hook it to the hose and then create water pressure as high as 100psi (or air pressure) and see if the fitting / hose / assembly holds for about half an hour.

This might need some big fab skills on your side, to rig up a test stand just for that purpose but WE ALL thank you for your testing.

If you do it, than run a comparison with the correct Dorman tool made fitting.
Put a bucket around each while testing to keep spillage as low as possible and increase pressure till it burst, and then look where it burst.

There was ball bustin going on, but I'm serious about using the cobbed up joint in the picture. The line isn't "stretched uniformly and that bothers me. It might not fail today or tomorrow, but it's far more likely to fail.

    Nah....I don't sell any tools I buy.
Being that this is used by all 3 major "American" manufacturers I'll keep it.

I'm kinda geeked waiting for it to get here.
Should be here by the weekend with my new Walbro 255LPH and B-body fuel sender.
Now I can finally finish the 442's B-body tank install.

I might be picking up a new/used 2008+ GMC Sierra crew cab soon.....
Fell in love with a Denali just last week. So I'll have 3 cars with LS motors,
and that makes things easier to work on. Rather have the duramax.....we'll see.

Either way, thanks for the kick in the pants to get the right thing.

Sounds like an early morning remorseful confession of the drunken night before.
