Actually, I will be living in a trailer for a little while, until we find a sweet spot to settle into. I don't mind at all having the temp dip down to snow temperature, it's the 9° lockdown for 3 months that I'm entirely sick of. [IMG]

Sis started out in Salisbury, then moved in to Kannapolis, then in again to Concord. I interviewed for a job at the nuclear power plant there at Lake Norman, before I decided to get out of that industry all together. Nice places around the lake, was a bit spendy even back in the 90s. It's been a few years since I've been down there- haven't even seen her Concord house.

Best of luck to you. We've thought about that same move ourselves.

The Charlotte area is a place I would consider relocating to. We've been down in that area several times (many NASCAR races - Charlotte, Martinsville, Darlington, Bristol and to the NHRA Nationals down there) and it's a great area with great people.

Good luck ultimately finding a new permanent home!

Best of luck! Takes some big ones to pull up roots. I wish you well, and give you a lot of credit for the move. My sis and BIL were ski instructors and on ski patrol and a major resort here. Had enough, started driving south, stopping in hardware stores along the way. Settled in the first place that didn't stock snow shovels, Hampton Roads Va.

Man, so you just packed up and sold your house before you found a job or a place to live? You are one ballsy MF! :) NC is on our list too, maybe in a few years. Dave Nelson is moving down there, iirc the Raleigh area

    Good luck!

We like to travel around in the South and really impresses me how much expansion there is down there. I guess the non-union labor force is a big issue but seems to be the going area these days. Good luck with move!

Where ever you decide to settle, make sure it's on high ground. This current storm is giving Charlotte it's fourth 500 year storm since 2015.
