Finishing up my heater box and can't seem to find the cable bracket shown in the picture:

Also, in this photo there is a spring. I don't remember seeing that before. Was that original? 1970-chevy-camaro-z28-heaterbox.jpg

I have my 79 heater box apart now, waiting on a heater core. Mine doesn't have that spring but someone else needs to verify because of year difference and I have a/c.

Thanks. Looking at the AIM, I'm not seeing the bracket or the spring. I do see the hole in my box that looks like it is for the bracket. I'm thinking the spring was added. The photo above is not of my box, but one I found on-line

Dave - My original 70 heater box did not have the bracket or spring either....but it also has the hole which was stamped but never tapped.

Even harder time getting pics. Top pic you can just see the end of the spring behind a cable bracket. My heater box has never been removed. 1970 RS Camaro non AC car.

Very interesting and thanks for posting. Your car is obviously a Norwood car...what's the build date. Mine is from an 03A and Dave's is 04B.

My vin tag says 06A but protect-o-plate says 06B. Maybe built on Friday tagged on Monday? Sale date was 12/17/70. Lois Zeigler must have bought herself a Christmas gift.

I'm just wondering if it was a later introduction to 1970 production...too late to included in the AIM? Thanks for posting the info. :)

Always glad to help. Especially with the oddities of the 1970 models.

Never mind...found it. Embarrassing. It was on the cable!

Still wondering about the spring though. I know that was never there. I examined the bracket closely and don't see any evidence of wear marks from the spring. 70-camaro can you tell that its there on the heater control lever when you move it? Its the Vent-Defrost lever. Strange too that there is no reference in the AIM. Just for grins I checked the 1971 AIM and its not there either.
