Does anybody have a spring they can measure for me?
Kind of looks like this spring:
None of the typical parts places have anything like it listed.
Could be a tough find without a part number at least.
My guess is its either 9.786 or 8.852:
The eBay item is 9.786
I just crawled under mine to look. '70 04D Norwood Z. I've had the car 20 years and never had the box out. Can't get a pic, but I can see the spring on top
As I move that lever from left to right at about 3/4 of the way it does have a snap effect like it is helping. I can see the spring stretch as I move it. No way for me to measure the length though. I might be able to get a rough idea of the OD tomorrow.
I would guess the same.
You might check here for your spring. You might get lucky. Might have to call for something like that.
No way for me to get anything up there to measure the diameter of the spring, 6 inch rule or otherwise. Looks to be 3/8 Dia.
I’m confused. What is the consensus? Should we have that bracket and spring on the heater box? Here is the box I received from a forum member and it appears as though that bracket was in place.
Also why do I have those for holes on each side of the door where as on the heater box in this thread I don’t see those for holes?
^^^ Here is my original rebuilt heater box, car is an 05E build date. Those 4 holes should not be there...mine also has the spring, I think it might be a late addition to production as it would seem the early cars don't have the spring.
