Internal markings on my 5.3 Do they mean anything??

    I found this inside the valley area of the 5.3.

    It also looks like the main caps have been marked, but I cannot see anything on the rods.

    The main caps are marked that way from the factory. The rods were never marked, unless it was rebuilt.

    Could be as simple as the date and clock number of the person who checked it. Or the the operator who poured it even.

    I was worried it had been "repaired" before. I know the vehicle it came from and have good record of all repairs so it's just a little paranoia on my part. Everything I checked is showing no over/undersize so I think I'm good and it is in fact a untouched engine.

    the main caps are stamped factory, never seen the paint markings on in the valley b4 though.

    i think those markings are O2 change intervals

    I'll check my mockup block tonight. I think there was something like that in there or in the 4.8 I put in the Camaro
