Did this style knob with the headlight picture on the knob come with any year Camaros? I don't think my 81 did but the switch and knob may not be original. Mine does not have the headlight picture on the face of the knob

Yes... I believe it was used for a Camaro in 81.
It was also used in El Caminos and Monte Carlos that year.

Not sure if they all got that knob in 81 but I thought the change went with the wiper switch with the picture instead of wash/wipe.

    Maybe a mid-year change?

International symbols were used on the radio and headlight switch back to the 71 model.

Don’t know why they dropped them for the headlights in 79-80 but I don’t think my 80 or my son’s 79 originally had the picture on the knob either.

I was pretty sure I had seen the symbol headlight knob in other 81 models.

Your 81 definitely came with that knob pictured. Mine has it, barely, but you can still see it. And I have a spare NOS that also looks exactly like the one you posted.
If yours doesn’t have that decal then it’s either not the original or it’s rubbed off.

Pull the knob out as far as it will go. There is a small spring loaded button on top of the switch. Push in on the button and wiggle the knob a little and it will come all the way out. Here's a short video that shows the process. It's on a truck but all GM switches work the same way...
