Just can't win with this door hinge.

    The 79 I just got this year had the roller broken off the upper door hinge. The guy I got the car from had a set of OER hinges in the trunk. I installed the hinges a couple months ago. Guess what I noticed today.:mad:

    There are replacement rollers made for these hinges.

    Don't know how well they work with the repops though.

    I have a whole milk crate full of originals I am going to rebuild and Ebay someday.......

    I have the original hinge I took off. The roller is missing off that one too, but I'll look into it. Rebuilding the original is probably the best thing to do. I just can't believe the new one broke already.
    It does piss me off that I have to remove and re-align the door again to repair it.

    I did the 4th gen upgrade linked above. I would recommend it. Sadly the quality of repop parts aint what it otta be! Plus. . . .these 100+lb fbody doors are a failure of research and development (Failure Of Research & Development ) spells FORD!

    I forget who,but someone here that sells them said they(the repops) were only a 5 or 6 year hinge,lol.

    5 or 6 WEEK. I'll be putting the originals back on.:)

    Yeah, the original hinges were 6 month hinges. You have to beef them up to get them to last.
