Why couldn't you use the GTO alternator itself?

Lots of good information in here for anyone that's thinking someday they might want an LS1 (or an LT1) - like me :)

I dont know if this is helpful for a 2nd gen but if you need other part numbers this was posted on thirdgen.org for an LS2 into a 3rd gen. I am thinking some parts may be needed or used for LS1 or LSX

    LS2 GTO accessory part #'s

I like this thread, you guys did good in this. Gonna refer to this when i do my 5.3 or 6.0 vortec swap.

The lh8 oilpan from BRP will work on the 5.3/6.0 vortec motors right? And are the crossmembers between the t56 and tko600s different?

How about between the t5 and the tko600? I wanna do the tko but being a broke college student, if i could get the vortec in and get a cheap enough t5 to run temporarily only, then upgrade to tko once i get more cash. Thanks guys.

I've been researching and trying to gear up for an LT1 swap into my 2nd gen f-body (78 fbird). It seems like there are more resources; with all the guides and kits for the LS1 swap. I've heard it said that the LS1 swap is much more involved than an LT1, but with this much information about the LS1 swap, I'm thinking it might be easier. If I can find an LS1 for a comparable price as an LT1, should I go with it?

Go 5.3 vortech with an ls1 cam and intake, you can get the 5.3s cheap they are everywhere and run good and reliable. Just my oppinion.

If it were me, id go ls1 and go all the way, unless you can get the lt1 that cheap.
