I'm looking to get a new ignition set up for my new 350 and I dont know what brand to go with. I have tried doing some research on MSD vs Mallory but everything I have seen was posted before 2012 and since then MSD bought Mallory and a few other companies. So what is the difference between the stuff anymore? I'm between a MSD 6al and Mallory HyFire VI-AL. I have heard alot of bad things regarding MSD products being junk now. But everyone says MSD is the way to go but I read some good stuff about the Mallory too. Is the stuff any good since MSD took over or is the relablility the same now?

Made in China junk today. The new digital 6AL's are lucky to last 11 months, some DOA. Better read up on the reviews where the boxes have left people stranded. Best to keep a set of points/condensor in the glove box. I'd like to pick up an analog 6AL from 10-15-20 yrs ago, not today's crap.

Here is what MSD has posted; Stay tuned as we bring Mallory ignition and distributor lines back! That said, I've had good luck with my Mallory 685 box. The rpm window switch, timing retard, and 2 rpm limiters come in real handy for single stage nitrous use. And like Mr Dragster says, MSD is king on the dragstrip. There is going to be failures in just about any ignition system and a good many are self induced.
