Massive Great White Shark near Oahu HI

    I've got an international YMCA diving certification, have been in the water with an 8' Tiger shark...
    and the older I get, the less desire I have to go into the ocean.

    lots LOTS of folks just don't/can't fathom the concept....when WE are in the ocean...WE are no longer the greatest threat!!!! we are merely bait.

    Yeah, we were supposed to dive with blues and makos on long island this year, but hurricane florence screwed us up. I can't tell you how many people talked about how delicious makos are. That pissed me off. Sharks take a long time to reproduce.

    Damn, I would’ve never thought makos & blues were that far north.

    I found out great whites are in the Gulf of Mexico, I don’t go out more than knew deep.

    All this talk about swimming, or just getting in the water with sharks reminds me of a quote from a science fiction story I read many years ago. "Never meddle in the affairs of dragons as you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup".

    They're only there for a short time while the warm water streams north. There are great whites up there too in the cooler water.

    Sharks really don't like the taste of humans. They spit us out. But don't act like prey and they won't bother you.
