Its alright guys, hes at peace. Just wanted to share the funeral with you guys. I think it was really nice, and the surprise was a positive plus. I am sending all the positive thoughts to the other members here in need who can use them now.

Again, I would like to express my sorrow at your loss. It does make me feel better about things to know that there are still good people out there such as those that took care of the expenses for you. I love to hear stories like that, much better than all the violence the media seems to love showing.

    Finally back home!!!
I can understand the feeling of relief that he's at peace. That's how it was with my grandmother when she passed. Her last 9 months at the very least were filled with pain. Even then, it's never easy. I'll be sure to keep your family in my prayers. Semper Fi.

To answer your earlier comment, anyone who has served Active Duty receive those honors. Same goes for Reservists and Guardsmen who are mobilized on active (federal in the case of the Guard) orders.

Sorry for your loss FP. I'm going through my Father's final days as well. 92-year-old WWII vet and former POW (Germany). He's been fading for a long time and went to the hospital last Thursday. I don't know when/if we can bring him home.

Truly sorry for your loss. Something I have learned after burying my dad, brother and mom, funerals are for the living, not for those who passed, it's a part of healing and closure.
