I bought a high torque mini starter for JD's '83 S10 with a '74 Monte Carlo 350 SBC which has a 168 tooth SFI approved flexplate on it.

The starter has the straight across pattern BUT the block has the stagger hole pattern.

We could drill the block BUT he and I would prefer to buy a stagger hole mini starter.

Can anyone point us to a stagger hole mini high torque starter for a 168 tooth flexplate for a SBC.

That's the typical early 90s Jimmy/S10 4.3 starter, IIRC. It'll turn the small block just fine.

JD's S10's V8 is mostly bone stock out of a '74 Monte Carlo. The only modifications to it are an Edelbrock hydraulic lifter cam, Wieand Action+ intake, Edelbrock Performer carb, and Headman shorty headers. So I completely agree that a 4.3L's mini starter will probably turn it right over.

In fact, I think I have two good one's of those starters in the box of starters in the lean too!

Just be very careful with the skip whites starter stud.It doesnt take much to knock it loose, then you have to call and send it back.I love the starter, went in clean,no shimming, sounds great when it starts.Thats my only drawback with this is that you have to wait on the mail.
