ok, I got an LS7 and plan to do the whole head and cam swap deal. There are barely any threads that detail such a thing plus it gives me something to do. So here we go. It's gonna be slow because it's an expensive task..... I went ahead and stripped the engine down.

Is this a used engine? LS7 505 HP crate engines goes for just short of 14 Grand new. How much HP are you looking to build out of this?

This is a used pull out. I'm $7500 invested in this, but still a deal compared to a $13k new engine. Looking to get 550 rear HP. Stock is about 440-460hp. People are getting more but my goal is to still have it idle and drive with good street manners. Going too big on the cam is something a lot of guys do to get max hp.

I'll put about $2,000 into it

Pulled the rockers, push rods and heads. All looks good so far. I kept everything in order even though I plan to replace the push rods. I loosened all the rocker while both valves were closed and loosened the head bolts criss cross outside in

This looks like it is in good shape. How many miles are on the engine?
