    I've got a good feeling that my mystery base is for a BB. I bought it before I got a 73Z base. I remember comparing the two and something wasn't right. Bet it was the diameter of the tube like you said. The 73Z tube seemed pretty small. I guess that would make sense since one is for a small block and one is for a big block.

    Got the air cleaner base today, it's a thing of beauty- especially since I didn't pay a ransom to get one from fleabay and this was $60. Thanks for the idea

    Glad it worked out. That pic is from a stock photo I found on the www. I had a 327/350hp 68 Corvette a few years back. It's long gone. Driving around in Texas the last I heard.
