Ok so Im suposed to be picking up a junker 3/4 ton 80' suburban with a running 454 and 400 tranny

my question is what sould I expect to get at a scrap yard for it minus engine, tranny, hood, front fenders and rear dif.
I was thinking I could sell the rear diff. and maybe the front on c-list for $50 a peice (dana 44 front) 14 bolt rear 4.10 gears. what should I expect to get for the emty shell

Somewhere online is the daily price of scrap metal by weight.
    Try googling it.
I'd guess $100 or so for a shell. Just a wild guess though.

To bad you are not closer or I would take your axles off your hand. They can probable be sold for more the $50 a piece. I would shot for $250- $300

I'll see what I can get for the parts on c-list. differentials, tires+rims and scrap the rest because I can only have the truck at my house for a day or two so I will probably pick the truck gut it for the pats I need/can sell and haul it off to the scrap yard along with any other scrap I can find lying around to increase the weight. damn thats gonna be on hell of tiring day, gonna be damn hard to get a truck on/off a trailer if it has no wheels:screwup:

before you pull the axles, I would do a search on craigslist and see if there are any other axles for sale. maybe get ahold of the sellers and see if they are getting any responses. Around here you see truck axles show up over and over. It may not be worth the hassle of pulling the axles. I would grab the motor, tranny, front clip pops off real easy. column might be worth selling. Just remember to pull the gas tank, battery, and on the tires. just load it up with the wheels on, with 1 lugnut on each wheel. when you get to the metal scrap yard, (not a junkyard) just pull the lug nut when you get out to show your ID. they just pick the carcass off the trailer, and the wheels just fall off. Good luck. jim

You'll get more than that for just the scrap metal. a rolling shell should net you over 300 bucks. Jim
