    5.5 may even be safer on a later car with the reduced tub clearance.

    I have a 295 on my car and there is tons of room. 5.75” bs effectively. Actually 6” but the the rear is .5” wider or .25” per side. If anything I may still run a .25” spacer which will be like a 5.5” bs on a stock rear.

    Finally got my set of '10 Camaro wheels mounted up on my '79. I'm happy with how it turned out. Fronts are 20" x 8" with 245/35s and the Rears are 20" x 9" with 285/35. I'm running 1.25" adapters on the front and 1.5" adapters on the rear. Also cut one full coil off the front springs to get it to sit where i wanted it.

    If I push it hard yes, the fronts rub right on the outside edge of the inner fender but far enough away from any sharp edges that I'm not concerned. Rears clear no problem. With a stiffer aftermarket suspension I don't think it would be a problem anywhere. Wanted to get it set up on the cheap for now to see if I like it. So now I start planning for better suspension.
