Do powdered coated sway bars hold up after a few years. I kept my original front and rear sway bars in the attic, but bought larger powdered coated bars. Does the powdered coating hold up after a few years. The car is outside with car cover, and is driven once a week for 20 miles so that moisture does not stay on car.. But a front bar I bought a few years ago which was suppose to be powdered coated lost about half the coating. I was pretty sure it was powdered coated. Any info would be welcomed.
    Thanks John.

powder coating is basically a melted plastic coating - it's so tough & flexible it should last forever

My experience with powder coating is that it will last about as long as decent paint. I installed an iron fence some years ago. It was powder coated. The coating started flaking off after a couple of years. I removed the loose powder coating and painted with Rustoleum. The Rustoleum flakes off too after time, but it actually lasts a bit longer than the original powder coating did.

Also depends on prep of the piece and quality of coating.

I used VHT Chassis epoxy on my sway bars .It has a similiar 'look" of powder coating but can be "touched up" it needed. And I plenty of both types on my car.
