Ok... so I just want to confirm a theory that I have and hopefully someone can help me out.

The short version is, the 78-81 Z28s have a black trim that goes on the front and rear windshields. As far as I know, this is the same aluminum piece that goes on the standard Camaro, but it was simply painted black.

I am assuming that the piece is either anodized aluminum and painted black, or they simply skipped the anodizing process and painted the aluminum black.

If it was the same as the std camaro then the paint would fly off pretty easy at a car wash. I ordered a new 77,78 and 80 Z28 and they all saw a pressure washer and none had black ever missing.

The trim used the same pieces no matter if it shipped shiny or black. But, like you, I don't know how they finished it from the factory.

Ok, well, I guess we are about to find out. Im going to find and buy a couple of black ones (because I cant seem to find anyone with originals to sell), then strip them down, polish them, and get them re-anodized.

It's always been my understanding that the trim was black anodized....

Here is a shot that shows the metal clips that I am using. And I will buy anodized or black trim because either one would work for what I need to do. If you have two, I would both of them immediately. This is one of the last things holding me up from finishing this car.

I can post better shots if you need them.

^ That's them - AFAIK, they are the same as the OEM ones. The company that replaced the back glass installed them.

Thanks guys. I'm wondering if i've got the wrong clips now. At any rate i'll buy some and see if that helps my quest to get the damn clips on lol!
But yea i've got some black trim pieces that were purchased as extra's when i was buying my pieces. I'll post what i have once i get home from work. I'm pretty sure i have that piece that's missing in your pic CDesperado

*edit, its looks like i was using using the windshield clips for the rear window. Maybe i won't have to reseat the glass!* Time to order the correct ones lol :(
