just wondering what kind of vacuum you guys are getting say, in a idle in park?
forgot to add, its in a 355
I have that cam, but it's hard to say because I have a reserve vacuum canister.
Last I checked (when I was setting my idle mixture screws) it's ~12 in/hg but that may be irrelevant because of the canister.
Mine's also a 350, Vortec heads, Weiand dual plane intake, Holley 650DP, Magnum 280 cam, plus I have Rhoads lifters.
I took all the necessary precautions to make sure I had brakes at idle. Been there, done that. Don't want to do it again.
The last time I checked I had something like 17" at idle.
Vacuum canister shouldn't affect manifold vacuum. It's only a reservoir to store vacuum to run vacuum operated accessories while under a load if it's hooked up correct. My son's 383 has about 12 also.
Sounds as as if you may be ok, the 284H in mine is 9-10 in/hg, using a 4sp though. 12 sounds about right?
I wouldn't think so either since it's really only hooked to the brake booster, but just wanted to be sure all info was given.
I had a 360 that made almost no vac so the brakes sucked
I run that cam in my 383 no problems with vacuum ever, brake booster works fine. also putting one in my buddys 355 which is also a mild street 355, great street cam.
i ask as i hooked a gauge up and getting only 10 inch's in park in a idle, ive check and rechecked timing and played with carb but 10 seems to be the highest i can get out of it
