can someone tell me what the original 4 speed shifter is in a 72 z with a M21 transmission?
do they make a rebuild kit for them ?
does someone know where one is for sale?
    thanks

The 70-71 Camaro w/4-speed Muncie were issued a Hurst Comp. Plus shifter and were date coded. The 1972 and later Camaros were issued a 4-sp. shifter made by ITM. I have several of them. I believe that I even have the matching shifter rods as well. The ITM shifters do not sell for big money like the factory Hurst shifters. Not all ITM shifters will fit the Camaro. The lever and lever connecter are not the same as a Chevelle.

I tried a brand new GM ITM shifter on my 70 many moons ago and it was a piece of crap compared to a Hurst. I ended up selling it on eBay. Do yourself a favour and visit your local speed shop and pick up a Hurst Competition Plus.

I will dig out my ATM shifters this weekend to see exactly what I have and get back to you.

Hmm, maybe it was the difference in the mount on my 70 compared to 72+ years. It just kept locking up on my 70 even after doing a neutral alignment on the shifter.

My ITM works great too. It was a tad touchy to get it exactly set, but it works flawlessly and no adjustment since.
