I have an 80 z. Steering box is leaking and a little sloppy. i Would like some advise on the best replacement box or a ratio that is better than the stock box. The iroc box is a good one i hear.

670 box is best, the 3rd gen box is still an 800 box

They require different fitting, if yours are still the flair instead of the metric o ring fitting, they sell the adapters that fit on the end of your existing hoses , if needed

We have a Turn One 670 gear on our '71 Camaro.

8:1 ratio for autocross. For general street use the 12.7:1 is extremely popular.

As mentioned by dave above, they take the metric o-ring fittings from the factory. With the adapters you can use your "SAE" hoses. For race stuff we convert to the -6 lines.

An 80 Z would already have the metric fittings from the factory. (80-81 switched to Metric O-ring fittings.)
(I discovered that when I attempted to swap the PS pump/lines from my 78 into my 80.)

In other words... A 3rd gen IROC box or the 670 box should work with your current hose fittings if they are still the factory pieces.
