Steering Column Replacement

    Doing more research on this column roadblock, have been told that the only diff. between a auto tilt and a 4-speed tilt is that the backdrive linkage lever is 1/2 in. shorter on 4-speed one. If that's the case couldn't I just weld up the hole, shorten it an drill a hole in proper location. Then I could run the linkage. This brings up something else tho, back in the day (early 70's) a lot of the Chevy's where I ran around had their back-up lights on all the time. Was this because the linkage wouldn't clear the headers and they dumped the linkage, or they just didn't think it was necessary.

    Thanks Green Hornet, guess there's no need to look for #'s, I know what your talking about. The non tilt I pulled out has a sticker on it.
