Doing more research on this column roadblock, have been told that the only diff. between a auto tilt and a 4-speed tilt is that the backdrive linkage lever is 1/2 in. shorter on 4-speed one. If that's the case couldn't I just weld up the hole, shorten it an drill a hole in proper location. Then I could run the linkage. This brings up something else tho, back in the day (early 70's) a lot of the Chevy's where I ran around had their back-up lights on all the time. Was this because the linkage wouldn't clear the headers and they dumped the linkage, or they just didn't think it was necessary.
